About Michel
I’m Michel. I design and build websites, and then I keep them running, which most designers hand back to you at launch.
The rest of my life is music. I teach percussion, I perform, and I’ve written a book on it (michelmuller.org has all of that). I mention it because it explains how I work: teaching someone to play a part they’re nervous about and teaching a volunteer to update a website turn out to be the same job. Patience, clear explanations, and never making anyone feel foolish for asking.
Most of my web clients are non-profits in Rhode Island and Massachusetts: small teams, tight budgets, and a lot on their plate that isn’t the website.
Why non-profits
Mission over flash
A non-profit website has one job: make the work easy to understand and easy to support. Everything I build serves that.
Budgets, respected
I know where every dollar of a non-profit budget could otherwise go. Rates are flat and agreed before anything starts.
Built to be run by you
Your team should be able to update the site without calling anyone. I build for that, and when you’d rather hand it off, the care plan covers it.
How I work
I don’t advertise, and I keep the client list small. New projects almost always start with an introduction from someone I’ve already worked with. Clients tend to stay for years, and so do their websites.
